He is now an SAFD Technical Rescue Team leader and is very well-trained in rescue and recovery procedures. His fellow firefighters are often featured in graphic videos.

Scott Deem was a Firefighter

Scott Deem was a San Antonio firefighter for six years. He was also a father to two children. His children are now grown, and they are ready to start a new chapter without their father. His family is proud for all the community support.


San Antonio Fire Department failed safety to search the building, failed to keep track and ventilated the smoke-filled building properly last year. Deem, who was lost in the smoke-filled building, died after the investigation. It also revealed inconsistencies in his statements to the police.
